HeartWords - Genesis 28:10-11
10 Jacob left Beersheba and set out for Haran. 11 When he reached a certain place, he stopped for the night because the sun had set. Taking one of the stones there, he put it under his head and lay down to sleep. NIV
Like us, Jacob made a lot of mistakes in his life, but I love his heart. When Jacob came to a place where all he could find was a field and some rocks, he used a rock as a pillow. What a wonderful spirit, to be able to take the hard places and make a pillow out of them. Make that your goal, when you come to a hard day, if all you have is a rock to lay your head on, then use the rock and go on with your life.
"When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us." - - Helen Keller
A minister told his congregation, "Next week I plan to preach about the sin of lying. To help you understand my sermon, I want you all to read Mark 17." The following Sunday, as he prepared to deliver his sermon, the minister asked for a show of hands of all who had read Mark 17. Every hand went up. The minister smiled and said, "Mark has only sixteen chapters. I will now proceed with my sermon on the sin of lying."
